ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Get ready for additional lane closures – including one eastbound lane of Paseo del Norte – starting the week of Monday morning at the Paseo/Interstate 25 interchange.
The new closures were announced Friday by the New Mexico Department of Transportation in connected with a $93 million project to rebuild the interchange.
Lane closures put in effect on Tuesday will remain in effect.
The new closures include an eastbound lane of Paseo del Norte, which will reduce Paseo from three lanes to two on the bridge over I-25. That closure will extend from the southbound I-25 frontage road east to the entrance of the Lowe and Target stores.
Workers also will close the outside lane of the northbound I-25 frontage road from the entrance to Ashley’s Furniture north to Paseo del Norte.
A third change will close one lane of the southbound I-25 frontage road from Coronado Village south to Paseo del Norte.
Another change will only affect drivers at night, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and is only expected to remain in effect for two or three nights starting Monday. Workers will close the outside lane on southbound I-25, reducing southbound I-25 from three lanes to two from the southbound off-ramp to the southbound on-ramp.
The department remained vague Friday about precisely when lane closures will take effect, saying only the changes will take effect “the week of Monday, Oct. 21.”
