That’s according to Steve Nakamura of Rachel Matthew Homes, who said his company started construction Oct. 7 on what will be a 10,400-square foot building near the intersection of Arrowhead Ridge Drive SE and NM 528.
Bladewerx will take up the majority of that space and will rent out 3,200 square feet to another Rio Rancho business, Westside Glass.
Rio Rancho Deputy Mayor Mark Scott attended the groundbreaking for the new building on Thursday.
He thanked the company for choosing to remain in Rio Rancho.
“We’re glad you’re here,” he said.
Nakamura, who said his company is involved in five building projects in Rio Rancho, also spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony.
“We’re going to treat this building as if it was our own,” he said to the future owners. “We’re going to put our heart and soul into it.”
The company’s current location is 4135 Jackie Road. Westside Glass is also located on Jackie Road.
Bladewerx provides instruments, software and services for radiation protection and measurement. It employs 12 people and does not anticipate expanding staff at this time.
