ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Dogs were here, there and everywhere at Balloon Fiesta Park on Saturday, as the 31st annual Doggie Dash & Dawdle took over the grounds.

About 2,000 people and the same number of pooches participated in the run and walk.

Proceeds from the event benefit Animal Humane New Mexico, which helps about 5,000 animals every year.

Far left: A real cat wouldn’t be caught dead at the Doggie Dash & Dawdle. But here, competing in a costume contest as a lion, is Magnum, owned by Cheri Reckers.
