CORRALES – Mike Frese, a small-business owner from Corrales who fell short in a bid for the Sandoval County Commission in 2012, says he’s running for Congress “to fight to free the American economy from job-killing tentacles of regulation from Washington.”
He is the second candidate who says he’s in the running for the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham for the 1st Congressional District seat of the U.S. House.
He said Obamacare is an example of the kind of progressive Democratic approach to regulation that should be stopped by building the Republican majority in Washington.
Former Albuquerque City Councilor Mike McEntee has also announced plans to seek the Republican nomination for the 1st District seat.
Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, was first elected to the seat in 2012.
