ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Leon Russell will perform a benefit concert at the Albuquerque zoo on Friday night (May 13), according to a news release from ABQ BioPark.
The concert is part of the Go Wild! Concert Series and proceeds will benefit the ABQ BioPark, the news release said.
The news release said Russell, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March, has played on, arranged, written and produced some of the best records in popular music during his 50-year career.
Tickets are available online at www.gowildconcerts.com or at the zoo for $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the concert, according to the news release. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
“We’re thrilled to have Leon Russell performing at the Zoo,” Maryann Torrez, special events and operations manager, said in the news release. “Not only will guests enjoy an open-air concert with a renowned musician, they’ll also know their tickets are helping the animals.”
The news release said the Go Wild! Concert Series presents several performances at the Zoo’s band shell each year to raise money for the New Mexico BioPark Society, the nonprofit support organization of the ABQ BioPark. For information on other future concerts, go to www.gowildconcerts.com.
