ABQ’s newest hotel is open for business

ahampsignALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque’s newest hotel, the 79-room Hampton Inn & Suites at 4412 The 25 Way NE, opened for guests Friday.

The five-story, 57,045-square-foot hotel, next to P.F. Chang’s China Bistro in the Interstate 25 and Jefferson commercial hub, is the sixth branded hotel developed in New Mexico by Albuquerque-based Sun Capital Hotels. The hotel’s construction cost was $4.1 million, according to the city building permit.

“We provide free amenities like our ‘On the House’ hot breakfast, indoor pool, high-speed Internet access and a large professionally designed fitness center,” said hotel General Manager Jay Blount in a statement. “This hotel also has two meeting rooms on the top floor with beautiful views of Sandia Mountains.”

Sun Capital is working on two additional hotels, Fairfield Inn & Suites in Farmington and Gallup, that are scheduled to open in 2014, said CEO Deepesh Kholwadwala.

The Hampton Inn at I-25 and Jefferson is owned by Dreamcatcher, an Albuquerque hotel company that traces its roots back to 1982 when Kholwadwala’s father bought his first local hotel.
