ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Lovelace Health Plan members can once again see ABQ Health Partners physicians and other providers effective immediately under terms of a new provider agreement the companies announced Monday.
The companies declined to discuss terms of the agreement.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico is expected to purchase Lovelace Health Plan in a matter of weeks. BCBSNM has a provider agreement with ABQ HP already.
ABQ HP President Misha Palecek said in an interview that even though Lovelace customers would have been able to see ABQ HP providers once the BCBSNM sale closes, allowing patients to return to their ABQ HP physicians immediately “clarifies things more quickly” for patients.
Lovelace patients who wish to get an appointment with an ABQ HP provider can call 262 7400.
ABQ HP was once the Lovelace Health System’s physicians group. Lovelace spun the group out into a private, physician-owned company and had a network provider agreement with the practice for several years. The companies could not reach a new provider agreement last year. Palecek said the companies have been discussing a new agreement ever since.
“What both parties realized is that it was the best thing for patients that we be back in the network with Lovelace,” Palecek said.
