ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Police have identified the man shot by police Sunday night as Andy Jack Snider, 37.
Snider has a criminal history going back at least to 2009, including a conviction for battery on a police officer.
Snider was shot by police responding to a report of an assault on another man at the 7-Eleven at University and Central SE.
Officers followed the suspect into an alley, where police said he charged at them with a weapon. They said they fired a beanbag gun at him before firing the fatal shots. It was the fifth officer-involved shooting by APD in the past six weeks.
Police have not said what the weapon was, how many shots were fired and how many times the man was struck. Police also have not released the identities of the officers involved.
