1 killed, 3 injured in rollover crash

A 23-year-old Oklahoma man is dead after a vehicle he was in swerved to avoid hitting a dog east of Springer, NM, according to the New Mexico State Police.

A State Police spokesman said the vehicle, which was carrying four people, rolled over through a steel pipe and cable fence before coming to a stop on its wheels, killing 23-year-old Matthew David Hamilton of Newcastle, Okla. Matthew Hamilton was not wearing his seat belt, and State Police say he was ejected from the car.

Riley Garrison Gibson, 23, of Newcastle, Okla., was seriously injured in the crash and transported a Pueblo, Colo. hospital, State Police said. Gibson, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was not wearing his seat belt either.

The two other occupants — 25-year-old Tyler Edward Hamilton of Oklahoma City, and 22-year-old Ryan Alan Raberding of Norman, Okla., who was sitting behind the driver — suffered minor injuries, according to State Police. Both Tyler Hamilton and Raberding were wearing seat belts, according to State Police.
