ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Children ages 1-18 will be able to get free meals this summer at various parks and community centers in Albuquerque.
The city said in a news release Tuesday that the Free Lunch Program will be offered on weekdays beginning on June 6 and running through Aug. 5. Many of the sites also will offer free breakfasts, according to the news release.
“This program is an extension of the National School Nutrition Program that enables children to continue healthy eating habits throughout the summer,” said Henry Saavedra, program manager for the city. “Feeding hungry children in low-income areas is a vital and important component to the health and wellness of our youth and we are especially honored to have sponsored this program for the last 43 years.”
