A Jal High School teacher who allegedly had sexual relations with one of his students turned himself in to law enforcement Tuesday at the Lea County Detention Center, according to New Mexico State Police.

New Mexico State Police obtained a warrant for 52-year-old David Proctor last Thursday after an investigation that is still ongoing. Police said in a release they think there may have been other incidents between Proctor and the victim.

Proctor was charged with criminal sexual penetration.
