The Corrales Fire Department again collected food and gifts for less-fortunate families in and near Corrales this year.
The donations will help 207 people, 124 of them children, according to Corrales Fire Department Commander Tanya Lattin, who organized the event.
She said the department will deliver packages to 54 families, up from 46 last year. Each will get dry and canned goods that could last up to three months. Many of those receiving the help laid off, injured or are working part time.
Intel paid for food and gifts for eight families, Lattin said.
As they left the building, the firefighters commented about the program and how it has been a lot of work, but rewarding.
