Which Conference is Toughest to Win on the Road?

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Coaches always talk about how hard it is to win on the road, especially in league play.

I wanted to know just how true that is so I figured out the home records in league play for the top 10 RPI conferences, according to

Through Monday night’s games, the Mountain West ranked as the third hardest league to win a road game in league play with the home team winning 22 of the 32 games played so far this season (.688 win percentage). In eight MW games last week, the home team won seven times with New Mexico’s win at Wyoming being the lone road victory in league play.

Interestingly, one league — the West Coast Conference — has had a losing record for home teams through Monday night.
