Police have released more information about a pedestrian struck and killed Friday morning in Albuquerque.
The man is 90 years old, police said. He was stuck around 7:20 a.m. while he was jaywalking near Montgomery and Carlisle NE, police said.
Police said that Eugene Garcia was driving east when the man stepped out in front of his vehicle and that he did not have enough time to react.
The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review. Police have not released the victim’s name.
A pedestrian who was crossing Montgomery was hit and killed by a motorist near Carlisle NE on Friday morning, according to police.
Officers arriving on scene around 7:30 a.m. found a man lying in the eastbound lanes of Montgomery. Rescue personnel attempted to render aid, but the man was dead.
Officials said the man was attempting to cross north on Montgomery near Carlisle when he was struck by a car traveling east on Montgomery. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.
Investigators closed the eastbound lanes of Montgomery from Carlisle to Jefferson until just after 10 a.m.
The man’s name has not been released.
