Motorcyclist In Critical Condition Following Crash In Santa Fe

SANTA FE, N.M. — Victim was not wearing a helmet, police say.

A Glorieta man was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a vehicle near a Santa Fe hospital.

The man, who was born in 1953, T-boned his Harley-Davidson into a four-door Toyota passenger vehicle near the intersection of St. Michael’s Drive and Hospital Drive, in the area of Christus-St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, according to Santa Fe police Lt. Louis Carlos.

The motorcyclist was turning west on to St. Michael’s Drive, when he struck the passenger side of the Toyota, which was turning left on to Hospital Drive. The crash happened at about 11 a.m.

The rider of Harley was taken to the medical center for treatment of injuries that included massive head trauma. He was in stable, but critical condition as of 1 p.m., according to Carlos.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, the lieutenant said. The driver of the Toyota, a man who was born in 1936, was not injured.
