5 indicted in October killing of Shiprock woman

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — A federal indictment charges five people in the Farmington-area stabbing and slashing death of a Shiprock woman.

The Daily Times reports that those charged include 26-year-old twin brothers Patrick and Justin Benally. Others charged include 21-year-old Mariah Benally, 27-year-old Scott Thompson and 28-year-old Lasheena Jacquez.

They face charges of felony murder and other crimes under an indictment issued Jan. 9 in the Oct. 23 of a woman identified by Farmington police records as 28-year-old Gabrielle Joe.

Her remains were found Dec. 10 south of Farmington.

Court documents indicate that Joe, those charged in the case and two other people smoked and injected methamphetamine.

They documents alleged that Joe then was kidnapped and killed so she wouldn’t lead a rival drug dealer to the home to rob Thompson.
