APS teacher charged with inappropriately touching student

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police arrested a Taft Middle School teacher Thursday on a felony charge of criminal sexual contact of a minor for allegedly touching the groin of a 13-year-old student, according to a criminal complaint.

Kenneth Jehle, 53, remained in the Bernalillo County jail Thursday in lieu of a $50,000 cash only bond, jail records show.

Police allege that Jehle inappropriately touched the girl on March 3 outside a portable classroom at the school, according to a Bernalillo County criminal complaint.

In an interview with officers, the girl said she was sitting on a railing outside the classroom when Jehle dropped a bottle of lip gloss near her groin, then slid his hand across her groin as he pulled his hand away, the complaint said.

Jehle has taught with Albuquerque Public Schools for 16 years but began with Taft in the past year, KOAT channel 7 reported.
