ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It’s one thing to hit three home runs in a game and quite another to do it in your only three official at-bats.
But Albuquerque Academy senior center fielder Kevin Harrison did exactly that last week in the Chargers’ 21-0 District 5-4A baseball victory over Del Norte.
Harrison earns the Journal/ State Farm prep baseball Performer of the Week.
Harrison is one of five Academy regulars hitting over .400 this season; he is batting .448, and his power surge against the Knights gave him nine home runs for the season.
In Albuquerque, only Rio Grande’s Oscar Almeida and Hope Christian’s Zeek Carrillo, both with 10 homers, have more than Harrison.
Other performances last week under consideration include La Cueva catcher Mitchell Garver, who had six hits, nine RBI and a pair of home runs in District 2-5A wins over Santa Fe and Valley; and Sandia’s Aaron Sandoval, for his three-hit performance in the Matadors’ district win over the Vikings.
