ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A bicycle ride through Corrales is a pleasant way to spend a Saturday. Throw some good wine tastings in and you have a great way to enjoy your day.
Hop on your bicycle and be part of the Corrales Bike & Wine Tour. The tour will take riders through the calming and aesthetically pleasing village of Corrales. The tour will make stops at some Corrales wineries. The bi-annual event happens every April and August.
“People always come back with these stories,” organizer Dana Koller said. “They’re going from one winery to another and it’s a great community event that pulls people together. They’ll start riding by themselves and ride back with six or seven other people. It’s really fun.”
The first tour stop will be at Acequia Winery, which will open up its backyard patio with a gorgeous view to tour-goers. Take time to indulge and enjoy some of the delicious wines Acequia has to offer.
Next stop is Corrales’ newest winery, Pasando Tiempo. It has been open almost two years, according to Koller, and is ready to share its variety of wines with tour-goers. The winery recently added a wine-tasting room and offers a shady grass area to sip your favorite Pasando Tiempo wine. Owners will be on-site to give tours and answer questions.
Sit and take in the aromas, atmosphere and fine wines at the award-winning Corrales Winery. Its cool, shaded patio oversees the Corrales Winery vineyards and lush grassy areas.
Wine tastings are included in the registration fee. Tour-goers are encouraged to bring cash to purchase wine bottles and wine by the glass at the various winery stops along the tour.
Matheson Winery staff will meet and greet bicyclists at the end of the tour at the Frontier Mart, where there will be live music by Mood Swing and refreshments from 4-6 p.m.
“Corrales is very supportive of it and the wineries love it,” Koller said of the tour. “If you haven’t been in Corrales for a while, it’s a nice way to tour Corrales.”
