Two elementary school principals named in Santa Fe

SANTA FE, N.M. — Santa Fe Public Schools Superintendent Joel Boyd announced Tuesday new principals at two Santa Fe elementary schools.

Georgia Baca is the new principal at Salazar Elementary, moving over from Sweeney Elementary where she served as assistant principal.

Boyd said Baca is a Capital High School graduate, who has been employed by the district for 10 years. She will replace Vanessa Romero.

Ahlum Scarola is the new principal at Acequia Madre Elementary, replacing William Beachem, who retired.

Boyd said Scarola had been serving as assistant principal at Aqua Fria Elementary. Scarola has previous experience as both an elementary school teacher and principal, Boyd said. The Oregon native has degrees in psychology from Portland State University and teaching from Lewis and Clark College in Portland.
