N.M. teams lose in Far West quarterfinals

HONOLULU – Two New Mexican youth soccer teams advanced beyond pool play and into the quarterfinals, but lost, at the Far West Regionals.

Jason Moran’s U16 Rio SC 97 squad went 2-1 and played Cal South representative Corinthians in a quarterfinal. Rio SC 97 lost 2-1.

The Under-15 boys state champion NM Rush Nike 98, coached by Justin Sells, went 2-1 to advance to a 3-1 Friday quarterfinals loss to Santa Barbara White.

Other New Mexican teams met their matches in pool play and did not advance. Their results:

U13 girls: NM Rush Nike 2000 (0-3)

U14 girls: NM Rush Platinum Atletico ’99 (1-2); AUFC NM Prestige 99 (0-1-2)

U14 boys: NM Rush 99 B (1-1-1)
