Beanbag fired at suspect

SANTA FE, N.M. — Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies on Sunday night twice shot a beanbag at a woman suspected of stealing a motor vehicle.

At about 9:30 p.m., deputies pulled over Andrea Sandoval, 32, near Bridge and Goff SW in the South Valley, according to a BCSO news release.

Sandoval was “extremely combative” and ran from police.

Deputies shot a beanbag round, and Sandoval continued to fight with police until police fired the nonlethal weapon a second time, according to the BCSO.

Sandoval, after being taken into custody, refused medical treatment and was arrested on suspicion of receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle and evading.
