HERON LAKE: Fishing remains very slow from shore and from boats. Water is still being released at 200 cfs and diverson water coming in from Willow Creek has decreased so the lake level is starting to recede once again. Bill Dulski of Pinon Ridge caught a nice 17 ¼ -inch and 16 ½ inch Kokanee salmon trolling 10 to 18 feet deep. He was using a Panther Martin and a homemade spinner both with orange blades. Very windy conditions make fishing difficult any later than 10 a.m. Don Wolfley, Heron Lake Guide Service
SHADY LAKES: We stocked with 1,200 pounds of rainbows on Friday. The Easy Catch Trout Pond remains fast, while the Big Trout Pond has been running moderate with best successes on worms and powerbait. The largemouth bass activity has been spectacular, with daily reported numbers of 7-plus bass caught and released on a variety of plastic baits. Earlier morning and mid-to-late afternoon has the best results. Bluegill numbers appear light this year, but they’re actively biting on worms, salmon eggs, and flies. Jan Phillips, director
