ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Winning big at area casinos is always a good way to start or end your day, but sometimes its nice to stop and savor what these casinos have to offer off the gaming floor.

On Wednesday, June 25, Sandia Resort & Casino is giving you the opportunity to do just that. It is offering a four-course beer dinner inside its casual but classy The Council Room Restaurant & Bar.

The event is presented by Council Room chef Steve Trujillo and Alaskan Brewing Company in celebration of the beginning of summer.

The dinner begins with fire-roasted red peppers, melted leeks, cream-cheese crostini and kalamata olives paired with Alaskan Amber. It will be followed by beer-battered jumbo white Mexican shrimp on frisee with chipolte soy dressing paired with Alaskan Icy Bay IPA.

A New York strip steak entree with fried oyster and chocolate bacon will be paired with Alaskan Oatmeal Stout. The grand finale will consist of raspberry cheese tart, caramel and housemade vanilla bean ice cream paired with Alaskan limited edition Smoked Porter.

The beer dinner begins at 7 p.m. and is $39 per person. Reservations are required. Call 796-7500 to reserve your spot.

If you cannot attend the beer dinner, the Council Room is always a great place to visit. It offers a restaurant area where you can sit and enjoy a good meal and offers a spacious bar area where you can enjoy a cold beer and tasty appetizers or entrees. I highly suggest the hot wings. They are a favorite of mine. I also enjoy The Council Room’s mountain of nachos. If you order the nachos, be sure to invite a friend because the portion is more than plentiful.

Sandia also rewards its guests for patronizing its eateries. All Peak Rewards Club members get 10 times the points for every dollar spent in a cash or credit transaction for food and beverage purchases, with the exception of alcohol purchases. Guests must present their player’s card during the transaction to earn points.

If you’re not a member, sign up and receive $25 free slot play or $25 in table games free play as well as three times the points on the day you sign up.
