Fireworks, parades planned for the 4th

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Area residents have a number of choices when planning their Fourth of July celebration.

San Felipe Casino Hollywood will get a jump on Independence Day by hosting a free fireworks show at sundown today. Guests can also enjoy food and drink specials and a live music performance by Rude Boyz in the casino’s showroom. The casino is at 25 Hagen Road in Algodones, about midway between Albuquerque and Santa Fe off Interstate 25.

• Live music, family fun, tasty food and beverages, microbrew beers, a car show and a huge fireworks display will highlight Freedom Fourth from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at Balloon Fiesta Park.

Admission to the park is free; parking is $10 per vehicle. Organizers are urging attendees to leave plenty of time to get to the event because of construction on the Paseo del Norte/I-25 interchange. Alternatives to getting to the park include the city’s $1 Park & Ride service and valet parking for bicycles at the North Diversion Channel Bike Path.
