Trevor Hall will be one of four artists to perform at the Downs of Santa Fe.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Trevor Hall had to retreat in order to find inspiration. So the musician went high into the mountains. There he found what he was looking for.

“I needed to connect with the universe,” he says. “Getting back in tune with it helped me move forward with this album.”

I caught up with Hall on his day off in Seattle and he talked about his new album, “Chapter in the Forest.”

Hall let the album come to him organically and paid attention to the inspiration around him.

“This is the longest I’ve ever taken with an album and I am so proud of it,” he says. “It’s been a journey and I can’t wait to spread the message to the fans.”

Hall will be performing at The Downs at Santa Fe on Saturday, July 5, with Michael Franti & Spearhead, Brett Dennen and SOJA.

It’s a short week because of Fourth of July, and there’s plenty to do. Whether it’s catching fireworks at the Isotopes game or sitting at Balloon Fiesta Park watching country star Wynonna perform, there’s plenty to do to celebrate.

If metal is your thing, then Chrysalis is the band for you. The band released an album – “Focus on the Center” – in February and will return to the Duke City after a four-year absence. The California-based band will perform at Malarky’s.

There are plenty more stories to help you beat the heat over this holiday weekend. Remember to have fun and be safe.
