Gov. Susana Martinez is in Jackson, Wyo., today to raise money for her re-election bid, her campaign spokesman said.
Martinez, the state’s first-term Republican governor, will attend the campaign fundraiser today and return to New Mexico tomorrow, spokesman Chris Sanchez said.
The incumbent governor has traveled out of state frequently in recent months to raise money for her re-election campaign. She traveled last month to California, Missouri, Utah and Texas for fundraisers and national GOP governors meetings.
Martinez is facing off against Democrat Gary King, the state’s two-term attorney general, in the Nov. 4 general election.
Martinez has a large financial advantage over King heading into the race’s final four months, according to campaign reports filed last week. She reported having $4.3 million in her campaign war chest, compared to a balance of $116,018 for King.
The governor’s re-election campaign is covering the cost of her travel to Wyoming, Sanchez said.
