SHADY LAKES: We restocked again on Wednesday with 1,500 pounds of trout. The best success in the Easy Catch Pond remains with salmon eggs and worms; same for the Big Trout. In this summer heat, the Easy Catch Trout Pond continues at a moderately easy pace with an 11-inch average, while the Big Trout Pond success has been a little more of a challenge and runs a 15-inch average. It’s not 40-inch muskies, but there’s still a lot of laughter here. The best reports on the largemouth bass activity continues to be plastics (worms, crawdads, jigs, swim baits) rigged to not catch up in the pond grasses. Best bass (and bluegill) success is near the water lilies. Highest reported numbers is six bass caught and released in one day. Earlier mornings and mid-to-late afternoons and during rains bring the best results. Bluegill are actively biting on worms, salmon eggs, and flies. Jan Phillips, director
