After sitting empty for a few years, an old Hastings in Albuquerque’s Northeast Heights has a new tenant moving in: Tradesmart, another subsidiary of Amarillo, Texas-based Hastings Entertainment, Inc.
Tradesmart — which currently has just one outlet, in Littleton, Colo. — deals in new and used music, DVDs, Blu-rays, video games and more, according to its website. Tradesmart touts itself as a store “born from the culture of recycling.”
The Albuquerque location at 12501 Candelaria NE plans to open on Aug. 8, according to its Facebook page.
The building is about 20,000 square feet and had been vacant for about 2½ years, according to Bob Feinberg, senior vice president and principal for Colliers International in Albuquerque. He and partner Tom Jones handled the Tradesmart transaction.
Hastings — which made news this week when it was acquired by a New Jersey licensing executive — currently operates 126 of its traditional superstores, including six in the Albuquerque metro.
