Art students from various middle schools on the West Side gathered at Paradise Hills Community Center on Thursday to unveil “The Five Keys” mural.
Lead artist Faustino Villa, in partnership with Bernalillo County, began work on the mural in January, meeting with art teachers from West Side area middle schools, a county news release says.
The art teachers chose their best art students to be part of the project, Villa instructed them, and together they designed and finished the mural.
Villa is an instructor at Warehouse 508, a city-funded urban arts center for young people, the county said.
Along with Villa, the project participants included youth apprentice Bianca Sanchez, and youth artists Mikayla Mendoza, Estevan Sanchez, Andreana Bustinza, William Kline, Darian Ramos, Shaniah Yazzi, Renata Bonney, Arleena Beltran and Essence Chavez.
