The Santa Fe Botanical Garden on Museum Hill is approaching its first birthday.

And since its opening, the group’s membership has ballooned from 550 in early 2013 to more than 1,745, according to that group’s newsletter. Until that garden opened, the group operated only a wetland preserve in La Cienega and an education preserve in the Ortiz Mountains, neither of which had much visibility and awareness from people in town.

Plantings are still small, but in full bloom at the Museum Hill garden, giving a clue of what you might expect as they grow and become more established. Meanwhile, the group is fundraising for the next two phases of its Museum Hill site.
