If improving your golf swing or your tennis backhand is your goal, then Rio Rancho’s newest fitness facility has the equipment that will target the right muscles.
BF Health Club owner Fred Sesler says his goal is functional training for real life.
He has transformed 6,100 square feet of long vacant space in the AMREP building at N.M. 528 and Quantum into a handicap-accessible gym with the latest in Matrix fitness equipment, spacious studio and gleaming changing room facilities.
“I want this place to be different,” Sesler said. “I want people to feel like they’re walking into ‘Cheers’ with no intimidation.”
Sesler said he or another trainer will be available to give advice on using equipment and workouts. The health club also has its own line of protein and vitamin products.
Sesler has more than 30 years of experience in fitness and training, including body building, martial arts, physical rehabilitation and working with elite athletes.
His wife, Beth Sesler, has a background in sports, martial arts and health nutrition. The couple moved to New Mexico last year ago after falling under the state’s spell during a vacation.
They looked at several potential properties before picking the AMREP building location that offers great views of the Sandia Mountains and space for outdoor classes, Fred Sesler said.
Classes available indoors include yoga, Jujitsu, cardio kickboxing and pilates. Sesler said he also works with high school team athletes who can do boot camp training indoors and outdoors on an extensive lawn beside the building.
He expects to be open soon to folks participating in the Silver Sneakers fitness program available through some Medicare plans.
