Sunkist moving north, kissing Los Angeles goodbye

Sunkist (1)SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — One of the nation’s largest citrus suppliers is moving its headquarters out of Los Angeles and inland to the Santa Clarita Valley.

Sunkist Growers Inc. CEO and president Russell Hanlin tells the Los Angeles Daily News ( that the company will relocate to Valencia this fall in order to continue growth and profitability.

Sunkist, a cooperative owned by thousands of citrus growers in California and Arizona, says in a statement that the relocation brings the company closer to farmers and will not entail job cuts.

The company has operated in Los Angeles for more than 120 years and has occupied its San Fernando Valley headquarters for the last four decades.

Santa Clarita’s economic development manager Jason Crawford says the relocation will benefit inland Los Angeles County’s economy.
