Ponderosa Brewing Co. — a new venture from the people behind Portland, Ore.-based PINTS Brewing Co. — plans to open the doors to its new 130-seat Albuquerque brewpub on Wednesday, Sept. 3, according to general manager Cynthia Garrison.
Ponderosa will have “five or six” different beers available to start, said the company’s executive brewmaster, Alan Taylor, including an IPA, a red, and a stout. The ultimate plan is to have eight to 10 of its own beers available year-round.
Ponderosa — part of the evolving Sawmill district north of Old Town — also has a commercial kitchen and will serve a full menu of burgers, sandwiches, salads and the like, Garrison said.
It wants to attract not just beer fans but entire families, she said. The interior layout incorporates a children’s play area, and there’s also an expansive patio with seating for about 70 people.
Ponderosa is located at 1761 Bellamah NW. It will be open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday.
