ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Open Space officials are escorting three hikers down a trail in the Sandia Mountains after they got caught in a rainstorm Thursday while hiking.
Tanner Tixier, public information officer for APD, said in an email that the hikers left yesterday from Embudito trailhead on a day hike.
They were forced to “shelter in place” when a rainstorm moved into the area in he late afternoon hours.
They were reported missing Friday morning by a friend.
None of the hikers were injured, Tixier said.
