Lisa Lenard-Cook signs ‘Dissonance’ at Bookworks

Lisa Lenard-Cook will sign her novel “Dissonance” at 3 today at Bookworks.

When Anna Kramer, a Los Alamos piano teacher, inherits the journals and scores of composer Hana Weissova, she is mystified by this bequest from a woman she does not know.

Hana’s music, however, soon begins to uncover forgotten emotions.

Bookworks will sponsor a Tech Fiesta with Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, two local sci-fi authors who write collaboratively under the pseudonym James SA Corey, at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Special Collections Library, 423 E. Central. The event is in conjunction with the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Library.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Bookworks, award-winning author Steven Gould presents “Exo.” In it he returns to the world of his classic novel “Jumper.” “Exo” is the sequel to “Impulse,” blending the drama of high school with world-shattering consequences.

University of New Mexico Professor Eleni Bastea will present “Venice Without Gondolas,” new poetry, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept 13.

AT PAGE ONE: Albuquerque author Daniel Abraham and Santa Fe author S.M. Stirling, who both write science fiction and fantasy, will be at Page One Bookstore at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, to talk about their new solo genre efforts, “The Widow’s House: The Dagger and the Coin Book 4” and “The Golden Princess: A Novel of Change,” respectively.

The bookstore is at 5850 Eubank NE, Suite B-41, in the Mountain Run Shopping Center.

AT TREASURE HOUSE: Ollie Reed Jr., Slim Randles and Ruth E. Francis will sign the book they edited, “Max Evans & A Few Friends: The 90th Birthday Book,” from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Treasure House Books & Gifts, 2012 South Plaza NW in Old Town. With this book, prolific New Mexico author Max Evans’ friends share stories of him on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

IN PLACITAS: The Placitas Community Library will host bilingual author and teacher Sandi Wright as she shares her book “The Adventures of Santa Fe Sam” at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9. She will read from her book as part of the library’s children’s program. The library is at 453 Highway 165, five miles east of Interstate 25, exit 242.
