Dion’s now has an even bigger slice of the local pizza market.
Albuquerque’s largest home-grown pizza chain today opened its newest store, located near Unser and Cabezon in Rio Rancho. It is the second store in Rio Rancho and the 20th overall for the Albuquerque-based company that has plans to continue growing.
“Recently, we’ve been opening one to two stores a year and now we’re aiming to open two to three,” marketing director Deena Crawley told the Journal recently.
Over the next five years, she said the company looks to open additional stores in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado — the three states where it already has a presence — and also Arizona.
“Of course, we’ll only grow at a pace that allows us to maintain both our quality and consistency,” Crawley said.
The company confirmed this week that its next store would be outside of New Mexico but provided no additional details.
The new Dion’s in Rio Rancho seats 164 and boasts the brand’s signature open-kitchen design that allows kids to watch employees during the pizza-making process.
Located at 1502 Unser, it opens at 10:30 a.m. daily.
