SANTA FE, N.M. — Officers at the Taos County Adult Detention Center while making routine bed checks, found an inmate dead of an apparent suicide early Thursday, said a county news release.
According to the release, the inmate is identified as Jorge Zepeda, 20. He was housed by himself and found unresponsive at about 1:30 a.m.
“Officers immediately rendered medical aide, calling 911 for both Emergency Medical Services personnel and law enforcement. EMS personnel were not able to revive him at the scene. The detainee was pronounced dead at the scene by the Office of Medical Investigator. The notification to the family was done by the Taos County Sheriff’s Office.”
