Godfather’s Pizza expanding in Albuquerque

godfatherslogoFBALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A popular pizza chain is heading to the Northeast Heights.

Godfather’s Pizza — which drew massive crowds upon its 2013 return to Albuquerque — now has a second Duke City location in the works.

The pizzeria will move into an old bank building near Eubank and Spain NE. Remodeling of the 3,883-square-foot at 5210 Eubank NE has begun, and owners are targeting a December opening.

It joins the city’s existing Godfather’s on 98th Street, a store that set company records for first-week sales when it opened in the summer of 2013.

“It’s still doing fairly well (but) not as strong as when we first opened,” co-owner Laura Olguin said of the West Side location.

Olguin — who is partnering with Zack Snyder and the owners of The Library Bar & Grill to open the Eubank restaurant — said she has high hopes for the Heights location.

It’s “more in the center of the city,” she said.
