‘Scorch Trials’ casting call set for Saturday in Rio Rancho

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Anyone interested in being an extra for “The Maze Runner” sequel?

There will be an open casting call for “Maze Runner Chapter 2: Scorch Trials” from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Haynes Community Center, 2006 Grande Blvd, in Rio Rancho, across from Intel.

The science fiction feature will shoot in the Albuquerque area November through January.

Written by T.S. Nowlin and based on the second book in the epic young-adult novel series by James Dashner, “The Scorch Trials” continues the saga begun in the current box-office hit “The Maze Runner.”

Now, the “Gladers” from the first movie must survive in “The Scorch,” a futuristic wasteland ravaged by solar flares..

“The Scorch Trials” stars Dylan O’Brien (“The Maze Runner,” “Teen Wolf”), Ki Hong Lee (“The Maze Runner,” “She Has a Boyfriend”), Kaya Scodelario (“The Maze Runner,” “Moon”), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (“The Maze Runner,” “Game of Thrones”), Dexter Darden (“The Maze Runner,” “Cadillac Records”), Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad,” “The Usual Suspects”), and Patricia Clarkson (“The Maze Runner,” “Shutter Island”).

The production is looking for young adults 18 -27 as well as Middle Eastern, African America, Asian, Hispanic and Caucasian men, women and children for non-speaking paid roles. The casting call is being run by Elizabeth Gabel.
