The web-based tool, accessible for free at nmgco.com, provides a customized analysis of energy use in a home with suggestions about how to reduce waste and save money.
Customers just need to answer some questions about their home and energy consumption, said company spokeswoman Teala Kail. The program is set up to be user-friendly, deliberately avoiding any overly complicated questions.
“It will ask things like what types of natural gas appliances people have in their homes, the types of homes they live in, number of people in the home and the square footage,” Kail said. “The tool will then create a natural gas usage profile for the individual customer and give ideas of how that customer might use energy more efficiently.”
It will help customers identify low-cost and no-cost measures they can take to save on heating, as well as rebate programs they could take advantage of to offset expenses for making a home more energy efficient.
New Mexico Gas Co. offers a variety of rebate programs for things like padding attics and roofs with additional insulation and installation of low-energy-use furnaces and water heaters. To learn more, visit the company website and click on “energy efficiency programs.”
