Fiore Industries wins contract to guard Florida naval bases

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Fiore Industries of Albuquerque has been awarded a $1.28 million contract from the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Jacksonville, Fla. to provide guard services.

The contract is for one-year with options to renew for up to five years, said company CEO Bill Miera.

He said the naval facilities serve as strategic refueling sites for Navy ships.

“They’ve got a lot of valuable assets there,” Miera said.

Fiore Industries started 25 years ago providing high tech engineering services and products to federal and state agencies, the National Laboratories and industry.

Part of that work has involved providing security for the facilities that use those services and products. Fiore currently provides security guard services at Spaceport America near Truth or Consequences, Miera said..

Under the new contract they will hire 40 employees locally, in Florida.
