Rep. Ben Ray Lujan, the newly-appointed chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, has invited the entire House Democratic caucus to Santa Fe for an issues conference in late March.
The Santa Fe Democrat and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sent out a “save the date” notice to their House Democratic colleagues today inviting them to an issues conference from March 20-22. The invitation – decorated in a turquoise-colored Southwestern motif – said additional scheduling and other information would be forthcoming.
According to a Democratic source who emailed the Journal but did not want to be identified, the conference “will be modeled after Leader Pelosi’s annual Napa Valley Issues Conference and Former DCCC Chairman Steve Israel’s New York City Issues Conference.”
“The conference will be a chance for members and supports to attend panels, presentations and discussions on the legislative and political strategies being implemented by House Democrats while enjoying New Mexico, its culture, traditions and amazing food,” the email said.
It’s not clear yet how many Democrats will attend, but I’m guessing more than a few of them will be eager to come check out beautiful, sunny Santa Fe at the tail end of another dreary Washington, D.C. winter. The DCCC event will occur near the end of the 60-day state legislative session in Santa Fe.
