LAS CRUCES — Spaceport America will host its first-ever Private Pilots Fly-in on Valentine’s Day, according to a news release.
This is the first time that the New Mexico Spaceport Authority will open up the spaceport to this kind of event, the release says.
This inaugural Private Pilots Fly-in Event will mark the start of a recurring opportunity for private pilots to land at Spaceport America.
“We are really excited to let private pilots and their passengers have a chance to fly-in and tour the spaceport,” said NMSA Executive Director Christine Anderson. “Hosting special events like this, throughout the year, gives us a new way to open up the spaceport to more visitors, creating a new kind of tourism at the spaceport.”
The Feb. 14 event will be open to the first 10 pilots to register, according to the release. It will include a private NMSA tour of the spaceport and lunch for 10 pilots and their passengers. Cost is $500 per plane and reservations are required.
To make reservations, the NMSA at 575-267-8500 between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
