ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Ray Schultz left his job as chief of the Albuquerque Police Department in August 2013, and now he has a new one.

Schultz is now the assistant police chief in Memorial Villages, Texas, near Houston, KOAT reported.

Schultz departed from Albuquerque 18 months ago while in the national spotlight, in part, because of numerous officer-involved shootings.

Schultz’s new boss is J.D. Sanders, the former police chief in Hobbs.

Memorial Villages’ population is 79,000.
