SANTA FE, N.M. — To commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, the Folger Shakespeare Library is collaborating with others to bring the First Folio of Shakespeare to each of the 50 states next year.
The New Mexico Museum of Art has been selected to host that treasured book in Santa Fe. Published in 1623, the First Folio is one of the most famous books in the world. It offers a collection of the bard’s plays put together by fellow actors. It’s about 900 pages long and a foot tall.
The actual touring dates have not been announced yet, but the Museum of Art expects to stage an exhibition on theatricality in the visual arts, “Stage, Setting, Mood,” from Feb. 5-May 1, 2016, to complement the historic book’s appearance.
