ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Nathan Dominguez, the man charged with shooting his girlfriend in the face and causing her to lose an eye, had been charged with domestic violence in the past and was awaiting trial for another incident.
Dominguez, 26, was charged with attempted murder and other charges after the Friday night shooting on the 4300 block of Morris NE. The Journal reported in today’s paper that the couple had been arguing because the victim was talking on the phone with an ex-boyfriend. Dominguez allegedly shot her at close range with a rifle and was arrested soon after.
Court records show Dominguez has a criminal history dating back to 2001 that includes convictions for battery and drug possession. He has also been charged with kidnapping, child abuse and domestic violence.
Most recently he was charged with domestic battery and had been released while he awaited trial in the case. He was being held without bond at the Metropolitan Detention Center this weekend.
