ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police still don’t know whether bones that were dug up Saturday on the West Mesa are human, Albuquerque police spokeswoman Nadine Hamby said.
Police brought in heavy equipment this weekend to dig deeper into the mesa where human bones were found and identified earlier in the week. Police also found bones on Friday.
The latest bones will be turned over Monday to the Office of the Medical Examiner for testing to determine if they are human.
Police recently identified a woman whose remains were found at the site as Victoria Chavez. Detectives say her body was dumped on the mesa in 2004.
