New stadium name now official

The Albuquerque Public Schools Foundation and Nusenda Credit Union finalized a deal today to rename Community Stadium.

The west side football stadium is now officially named Nusenda Credit Union Community Stadium.

Interim APS Superintendent Brad Winter said this in an important partnership for the district.

“We want to partner and we want to work together,” Winter said during the signing at the stadium.

In exchange for the naming rights the credit union will pay the APS school foundation $79,800 annually over the next eight years for the naming rights.

The money will go toward district athletics and school grants, Winter said.

Judy Cartmell, president of Nusenda’s board of directors, said the partnership is another in a long line of partnerships between the district and the credit union.

The stadium, a 7,500-seat facility located at 1601 Arroyo Vista NW, just north of Interstate 40 at the 98th Street exit, opened in August 2013.
