LAS CRUCES — Edgar Gutierrez, who was wanted last week on charges of aggravated battery, turned himself in to Dona Ana County sheriff’s investigators Monday morning.
Investigators charged Gutierrez with aggravated battery on a household member, a third-degree felony, after he allegedly threw his ex-girlfriend to the ground and kicked her repeatedly. She was taken to an El Paso area hospital with severe head trauma.
According to investigators, the altercation between Gutierrez and the victim started when the victim confronted Gutierrez about an alleged incident involving Gutierrez and her 8-year-old daughter.
Gutierrez surrendered to authorities at 9:30 a.m. He was transported without incident to the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
